NEW YORK (AP/ 1010 WINS) -- Jurors at the racketeering trial of John "Junior'' Gotti resumed then wrapped up deliberations in federal court in Manhattan.
The trial hit a minor bump Monday after a juror told the judge she had a pre-planned vacation to Mexico starting Tuesday. After a series of discussions, lawyers for Gotti and prosecutors agreed delaying the trial for a week while the juror was away would be a mistake. However, after they agreed to allow deliberations to continue with 11 jurors, the juror realized her vacation didn't start until Thursday.
Last Thursday, jurors raised the specter of a fourth mistrial when they wrote the judge they were deadlocked on charges including murder. Three other juries deadlocked.
Prosecutors say Gotti, the son of the late infamous mob boss, participated in several murder plots in the 1980s as part of a life of crime.
Attorneys for Gotti say he quit the Mafia in 1999 and he never participated in murders.
