NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- An 8-year-old boy struck by a yellow taxi cab in Harlem has died.
Carol D'Auria reports
Police say Axel Pablo was eating a slice of pizza while crossing East 112th Street at Lexington Avenue shortly before 2 p.m. A taxi cab traveling eastbound on 112th Street apparently struck the boy.
Police say he was pronounced dead at Metroplitan Hospital about 30 minutes later.
A witness tells 1010 WINS the boy ran out from between cars trying to catch up to his mother and sister who had already corssed the street.
"Everyone is saying the car hit him, but it really looked like he ran into the car," the witness, giving his name as Joe, said.
The witness says the 44-year-old taxi driver remained in his cab and called 911.
The cab driver has not been charged and police say there is no criminality involved in this incident.
