L.I. Teenager in Stable Condition after Hit-and-Run Crash

NEW YORK (1010 WINS)  -- A Long Island teenager is in stable condition Friday after being hit by a car in Uniondale.

The 14-year-old boy was crossing Jerusalem Ave. with some friends at around 9:30 p.m. Thursday when a speeding black sedan with tinted windows struck him, Nassau County police said. The boy was thrown about 30 feet into the air, police said.

The driver of the sedan fled the scene, police said.

The teen is a student at Lutheran High School and was leaving a function at Turtle Hook Middle School when he was struck.

The teen suffered head injuries but is expected to survive, police said.
