Nanuet Teen Killed in Train Accident

NANUET, N.Y. (1010 WINS)  -- A Nanuet teen was killed, another was badly hurt after being struck by a New Jersey Transit train Friday night, police said.

1010 WINS AUDIO: Steve Sandberg Reports

Connor Corrish and Chris Cipolli, both 15, were walking on the tracks on a New York Thruway overpass between Spring Valley and Nanuet when it happened, a Metropolitan Transportation Authority police spokesman said.  It's believed they didn't see the train coming because they were walking in the opposite direction.

People who live nearby said teens often use the train tracks as a shortcut through that area.

Corrish and Cipolli were both brought to Nyack Hospital in critical condition.  Corrish later died.

Friends and family of the teens gathered to remember them in the Nanuet High School cafeteria Saturday afternoon.
