NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- As tradition has it, the bells of a church would ring to gather the masses for prayer service or to advise you of the time. One Marine Park resident sees it more as a nuisance and racket.
John Russo, 68, a retired Macy's window display designer, who lives behind the Brooklyn church, has become so fed up with the bell tolling, he's hung signs demanding St. Thomas Aquinas turn down the volume.
Mona Rivera Reports
"The bells don't bother me," Andy, a neighbor of the church tells 1010 WINS reporter Mona Rivera, "The signs are more annoying then the bells are. It's a quality of life issue, if I wanted to live on a block with billboards, I'd live on Flatbush Avenue."
The church pastor, Rev. Thomas Doyle, said he did not want to comment on the bell controversy, when Rivera approached him.
