Bananas Gone, But Trailers Recovered in NYC

WILMINGTON, Del. (AP)  -- Delaware state police say two stolen truck trailers have been recovered in New York City, minus their loads of bananas.

The trailers were full of the fruit when they disappeared from the Port of Wilmington, in Delaware. They were empty when found Saturday afternoon.

State police say a New York officer on a routine patrol found the trailers abandoned on a Bronx roadside. The officer conducted a computer check and learned that the trailers had been stolen.

Port workers discovered the trailers were missing Thursday morning after a truck driver arrived at the port to have his rig hitched to one of them, and it wasn't there.
