Money Mag Places Franklin Township On Its Best Places to Live List

FRANKLIN TOWNSHIP, N.J. (AP)  -- A central New Jersey town is fifth on Money Magazine's list of best places to live.

The magazine commends Franklin Township, in Somerset County, for affordable housing, good schools and good jobs. There are Franklin Townships in four Garden State counties.

The township is just an hour west of New York City and includes a swath of old-growth forest.

However, the magazine also notes that residents still have to contend with New Jersey's tops-in-the nation property taxes. The typical three-bedroom, two-bath home is assessed at $385,000 and carries about $7,000 in taxes.
