Donation to Restore Trees in Central Park



NEW YORK (AP)  -- The Central Park Conservancy has received a $1 million donation to restore and replant trees that were ripped apart by a summer storm.

The donation by JP Morgan Chase was announced Tuesday with Mayor Michael Bloomberg on the Great Hill.

The hilltop meadow was one of the hardest hit areas of the park. The storm, with winds as high as 80 mph, damaged or destroyed some 1,500 trees on the evening of Aug. 18.
