NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A new report in The American Academy of Pediatrics makes senses and it reinforces what doctors have been telling their patients for years. Cutting kids’ television and computer time helps them lose weight.
Okay, you are probably saying “did we need a study for this?” Obviously not, but here is what I find to be the most important point…obviously watching TV and playing computer games and instant messaging increase inactivity and that causes weight gain, but there was another surprising finding.
When children were not allowed to the computer and TV, they cut their calories by half. In other words, they dramatically reduced the junk food.
It all fits together. If you can get the kids outside playing more often they will cut the calorie intake and burn the calories with activity. We know the cause of childhood obesity; we just need to address it.
