Cops: Man Killed, Another Injured in Bar Shooting
NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A brawl in Brooklyn bar where patrons were smacking each other with barstools turned deadly on Sunday when plainclothes police officers fatally shot one armed man and wounded a second, authorities said.
Sonia Rincon reports
Kevin White, 43, was firing into the Norwood Palace Sports Bar in the Cypress Hills neighborhood when officers arrived and shot him, police said.
He was taken to Brookdale Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Donovan Wilson, 19, was wounded by the officers after they spotted him with a gun in the doorway of the club, police said. He was taken to Jamaica Hospital, where he was in stable condition.
"As I was running back into the DJ booth, shots rang out, then plainclothes cops rushed in," Timothy Stokes, who was working as a DJ at the bar, told the Daily News. He said the fight was over a spilled drink.
"I heard cops yelling, 'Put the gun down. Drop it, drop it''' Stokes said.
Three guns were recovered at the scene.
