Police Investigate Fatal Shooting of Newburgh Teenager

NEWBURGH, N.Y. (AP)  -- Police are investigating the fatal shooting of a 15-year-old Hudson Valley teenager whose brother was slain the same way three years ago.

Jeffrey Zachary was talking with friends on a Newburgh city street late Tuesday night when he was shot by a gunman who fired from a moving car, police said.

He was taken by ambulance to nearby St. Luke's Cornwall Hospital, where he died an hour after the shooting.

The teen's brother, 19-year-old Trent Zachary, was shot and killed in a drive-by shooting in March 2005.

Newburgh detectives and state police investigators went door-to-door Wednesday seeking information. Investigators are also reviewing footage from city and hospital cameras in the area of the shooting.
