In a message to students on the university Web site, campus health officials say H1N1 flu, also known as swine flu, is on the rise on college campuses as predicted by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

The message says most students who have gone to the campus infirmary with flu symptoms have had mild illness and recovered fully. It advises students with flu symptoms to stay in their rooms and at least six feet away from roommates until they've been fever-free for 24 hours.

The university has nearly 20,000 students.
