A Los Angeles native, David Plotkin started his radio career when he was merely thirteen years old.
Having taken an interest in early Jazz music he began hosting his own program, Rhapsody In Rhythm, on KEZY 1190 AM in Anaheim, California. The show would later be heard on other stations throughout California, Oregon, and Nevada. However, his once a week program could not quench his thirst to learn more about the other aspects of radio.
He eventually worked his way into the production departments at local talk stations and was on the air at other music stations while attending high school. Plotkin's love for vintage radio developed when he joined the engineering team for Sunday's Live.
This program, presented by the City of Los Angeles Cultural Affairs Department, broadcast live chamber music each Sunday from the Bing Auditorium over KMZT 105.1FM. After working with the heritage engineers who produced this show each week Plotkin found a true love for vintage ribbon microphones, tube mixers, and high quality production values.
In 2000 Plotkin moved to Long Island to attend Hofstra University. It was not long after that he became Production Manager of WLIR 92.7FM. In 2004 Plotkin joined the Production / Engineering team at 1010 WINS and became Production Manager of 1010 WINS in the Fall of 2005 at the age of 23.
He is honored to be part of such a legendary institution and to be working side by side with some of the best programmers, engineers, and talent in the business.
