Dina McGreevey Feels Empathy for Spitzer's Wife

TRENTON, N.J. (AP)  -- Dina Matos McGreevey knows too well what it's like to be a shell-shocked wife, standing by her man, as he confesses his sexual indiscretions on live television.

1010 WINS EXCLUSIVE: One-on-One with Dina McGreevey

Unlike former New Jersey Governor James McGreevey, who told the country he was ``a gay American'' and would resign in 2004, New York Governor Elliot Spitzer today neither acknowledged paying high-priced call girls for their services nor offered to resign.

He did, however, admit disappointing his family as news reports linked him to a high-end prostitution ring.

For Matos McGreevey, watching Spitzer's wife, Silda, stand at the governor's side as he made his brief announcement was like going backward in time.

Says Matos McGreevey: ``I'm reliving that moment and what it was like standing there next to Jim. I wanted to embrace her and say, `Be strong, you'll survive this.'''
