Ducks Stuck: Baby Birds Rescued from L.I. Sewer

SMITHTOWN, N.Y. (AP)  -- A couple of ducklings have been plucked from a Long Island sewer drain, where the baby birds got stuck after running scared from another animal.

The Suffolk County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals says the 3-week-old ducklings apparently got separated from their mother as they fled a cat or another creature Sunday on a Smithtown street.

An SPCA agent is taking care of the ducklings. They will be released into the wild once they can look after themselves.
