Con Ed: Easy on the Juice in Brooklyn, Please

NEW YORK (1010 WINS)  -- Power to nearly all of the 1,100 Consolidated Edison customers in several Brooklyn neighborhoods who lost electricity has been restored.

Con Edison officials say all but about a few of the customers have service.

Glenn Schuck reports

Electrical problems had cut electricity.

The utility still is asking customers to cut back on usage until further notice.

Close to 90,000 customers in the Sunset Park, Bay Ridge, Borough Park and Park Slope neighborhoods have been asked to stop using all non-essential electrical appliances, including air conditioning.

Con Ed says it had reduced voltage in the area by 8 percent while repairs are being made. Spokesman Chris Olert says failed electrical lines were being repaired. At the highest, close to 2,000 customers had been without power.
