NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A paroled sex offender was arrested Thursday on charges of second-degree murder in the slaying of a father and son at the family's bodega, police said.

Charles Judd, 50, was identified through a Crime Stoppers tip, police said. Detectives went to speak to him Tuesday, but he collapsed and remained hospitalized under police guard. He also was arrested on charges of robbery and criminal possession of a weapon, said Paul Browne, the New York Police Department's deputy commissioner for public information. Police still are searching for a second suspect in the shooting.
An attorney's name was not immediately on record for Judd, who served 15 years for raping a 12-year-old girl. There was no phone number at his last-known address in the Bronx.
Surveillance footage of the store released by police shows two robbers entering the Utica Deli and Grocery around 9:30 p.m. March 25.
The two men, one wearing a hoodie, forced Mohammed Monsoor Abuzaid, 50, and his 18-year-old son Abdul and another customer down into the basement of the store. There was a struggle as Abuzaid and possibly his son tried to resist, police said.
Abuzaid was shot in the chest and died in the basement. His son was shot in the chest and was pronounced dead at a Brooklyn hospital. The customer was not badly injured, police said.
The robbers fled the scene with an undetermined amount of cash.
Abuzaid was an immigrant from Yemen who had lived in the U.S. for more than 25 years, working to bring his family over. He owned the deli for about seven years in the Crown Heights section of Brooklyn.
