Jacob Neuman and his 8-year-old brother were headed to school from their apartment in the Taylor-Wythe Houses in Williamsburg when the elevator got stuck between the 10th and 11th floors, police said.

They were able to open the doors of the stopped car and Neuman tried to jump down to the 10th floor, but he lost his balance and fell down the shaft, police said.

His funeral was held Tuesday afternoon.

Neighbors told 1010 WINS' Terry Sheridan that the elevators are the same ones that were in the building when it was built and there have been problems with them before.
