Heat Could Break Soon in NYC Area

NEW YORK (1010 WINS/AP)  -- Temperatures will be inching downward this week in the New York City area. But you might want to keep your umbrella handy.

AccuWeather Forecast

The National Weather Service says Tuesday could be another 90-degree day. By Friday, however, the high temperature could be around 83.

The cooler temperatures will be ushered in by possible showers or thunderstorms throughout the week.

While waiting for the heat to break, Consolidated Edison asks that its 3.2 million customers in New York City and Westchester County conserve electricity.

Power outages affected parts of Brooklyn on Sunday. The utility says electricity use over the weekend was the second highest on record.

If there is an electricity problem, Con Edison customers can report it by visiting www.conEd.com or calling 1-800-75-CON ED.
