Friend: Boy Made Plastic-Bag Parachute before Plunge

NEW YORK (AP)  -- A friend says a 9-year-old boy might have been imitating a favorite video game character when he apparently built a homemade parachute and jumped to his death from his apartment building roof.

Police and witnesses say Domori Miles apparently cobbled the apparatus together out of a plastic bag and rope before jumping off the 13-story Brooklyn building Tuesday.

Domori's mother told police she had run out to a store.

A close friend says Domori was a fan of the professional-wrestling video game "WWE SmackDown vs. Raw,'' and particularly of wrestler Jeff Hardy's swan dives.

World Wrestling Entertainment is calling for "a full investigation ... before conclusions are made.'' It notes that no "SmackDown vs. Raw'' characters jump off buildings or use parachutes.
