That's what the Metropolitan Transportation Authority is apparently saying about metro fare increases.

The MTA unveiled their final proposed budget for 2010 and with a little help from Albany, the $11 billion budget is balanced and no fare increase or reduction in service is needed.

"That's good news. That's great news." Michael tells 1010 WINS reporter John Montone.
"Well, that's good, because we spend a lot of money as it is right now, and that's why we need a break," Carl from the Bronx tells Montone. "I ride the subway every day and you do need a break and stuff, especially every day back and forth."
But, remember, this is for next year. Beginning in 2011, they are already calling for regular fare and toll increases tied to inflation.
Of its nearly 70,000 employees, the MTA plans to cut 279 jobs, mostly through attrition, as part of its financial plan for 2010-2013.
