Radio! That was the answer Jim always gave when people asked him what he wanted to do when he grew up. He's been making that dream come true since January 2000 at 1010 WINS.
Jim is a staff Production Assistant and often takes over as Editor, Service Aide or at the Web desk.
Jim went to college at SUNY Plattsburgh and received his Bachelors degree in Communications in May 1995. While at Plattsburgh he worked at the college radio station, WPLT, serving as the Production Director and on-air talent. He earned several awards for his work including, "Most Valuable DJ" and "Best Specialty Show." Jim was also an active member of Alpha Epsilon Rho, the National Broadcasting Honor Society, where he won a first place National award for one of his production pieces.
After college, Jim interned at a radio station in Albany, N.Y. where he was also on air.
His career brought him back to his roots on Long Island, where he was the afternoon drive host and production assistant for WRIV in Riverhead.
Jim arrived at 1010 WINS, after logging onto to 1010wins.com to read more about the West Nile virus. It was there he noticed an area where you could apply for a job, and so he did. After sending in a resume, Jack Conceicao called him in for an interview and Jim says, "the rest is history."
Ironically, Jim is now a member of the 1010 WINS web team and helps to update the site.
