Kathleen Maloney

She rides around in a sporty convertible with the top down and the radio blasting 1010 WINS. Kathleen Maloney always wants to stay connected and know what’s going on in her city, her country and the world. But it wasn’t always that way.

She entered Fordham University as a Chemistry major and somehow came out a broadcast journalist. She double-majored in Political Science and Communications, and was active at the campus radio station, WFUV, filling positions as news anchor, reporter and news director.

After completing a summer internship in the newsroom of the legendary Musicradio WABC, during her sophomore year at Fordham, she was offered a full-time position anchoring the news overnight. During her 17 years at WABC, she was an award-winning morning-drive reporter, and was named News Director after the station switched to the current talk format. She also co-hosted the controversial issue-oriented WABC Morning Show, and portions of the Rush Limbaugh Show.

After leaving WABC, Kathleen did news and talk freelancing at other major NYC radio stations, including WOR, WABC and FOX News Radio. She also spent several years as Public Affairs Director and special events reporter for Clear Channel’s five NYC stations. She landed at WINS as a reporter in 2002.

Kathleen grew up in the Bronx, attended school in the Bronx and has worked her entire career in major market New York City. She knows the streets, the neighborhoods and the people.

Her other career is raising 3 children!
