Kathleen Marple has been at 1010 WINS since 2003.
It’s a homecoming of sorts for her, since she started her radio career in the old Group W/Westinghouse system, as an editor at KDKA in Pittsburgh. She was unwise enough to wear her brand-new University of Pittsburgh Phi Beta Kappa key to work on her first day, but quickly learned the ropes, and invaluable lessons from some legendary broadcasters.
Then came the years in the wilderness. Literally. Six years at WCFR in Springfield, Vermont, building and maintaining the state’s top one-person news operation, winning several regional Edward R. Murrow awards. Next, she finally got within striking distance of New York, working at WSTC/WNLK in Norwalk, Connecticut as morning anchor and host. Also -- some freelance work for WDRC in Hartford. Then – finally - the call from New York.
Throughout her career, Kathleen’s also done volunteer work in her community, helping start a teen center in Springfield, Vermont, and working with the March of Dimes, Hospice, Red Cross and other groups.
Kathleen is married – to a fellow broadcast journalist – and lives in Connecticut.
