Keep Your Eyes Open! New Jersey Jewelry Store Holds Treasure Hunt
WALDWICK, N.J. (1010 WINS) -- How appropriate.
Peggy Diamond, of Waldwick, was at a Walgreen's parking lot Monday when she spotted one of the white gift bags hidden in nine northern Bergen County towns. Inside was a 14k gold sapphire and diamond bracelet. It's worth -- $1,300.
Diamond was among the lucky ones to find one of the Devon Fine Jewelry bags.
"My heart's still pounding, I've never won anything," Diamond said.
Nancy Schuring, owner of the jewelry store, is hosting a treasure hunt to celebrate her 30th anniversary in business. The "Finders Keepers" giveaway is her way of giving back to the communities that support her store.
Schuring is giving away more than $25,000 worth of diamonds, sapphires and pearls in the form of rings, bracelets and earrings.
The jewelry will be contained in small white Devon bags marked with orange “Finders Keepers” tags, and containing a letter explaining that it is OK to keep the merchandise in the bag.
The bags will be hidden in Wyckoff, Ridgewood, Midland Park, Franklin Lakes, Waldwick, Allendale, Ramsey, Mahwah and Oakland over a four-day period. The first batch of gifts were hidden Monday.
So keep your eyes open because you could be the next lucky winner.
