Kids Found in LI Home Among Used Needles

ROCKY POINT, N.Y. (1010 WINS)  -- Suffolk County police arrested a Long Island mother and father on child endangerment charges after their young boys were found roaming their house among hundreds of uncapped hypodermic needles.

Police went to the home after receiving a tip regarding possible animal abuse, and found a dog in a small cage without water. Police say the officers glanced through the windows and saw a 4-year-old boy naked and a 2-year-old wearing a dirty diaper.

More than 200 used hypodermic needles, and at least one needle loaded with drugs were found scattered in the home, police said. Officers also confiscated was drug paraphernalia, and two rifles with ammunition.

The parents were also charged with possession of a controlled substance. The two boys are in the care of Child Protective services.
