S.I. Restaurant Owner Found Shot to Death

NEW YORK (1010 WINS)  -- The owner of a posh Staten Island restaurant was found shot to death early Wednesday morning.

Steve Sandberg reports

Frank Fresca's bullet-ridden body was discovered by his employees not far from Fresca's on the Bay in Tottenville, police said.

Nobody saw it happen, but workers say they heard gunshots and saw someone running away.

This isn't the first time someone tried to harm Fresca at his restaurant. In 2005, four men shot at and beat Fresca, leaving him with broken bones and a head injury.

One of the attackers in that incident was apparently upset because Fresca was having a relationship with his estranged wife, 1010 WINS' John Montone reported.

Fresca opened the restaurant in 2002 . He also owned the surrounding property, which houses a marina, a boat sales office, and a bait and tackle shop.

Cops asked anyone with information on Wednesday's shooting to call CrimeStoppers at 800-577-TIPS.
