While rain has subsided, some areas are flooded in Freeport, on the south shore.
School buses and SUVs were navigating Freeport streets, but moving cars were a rare sight early Friday morning.
In fact, some residents, apparently in anticipation of flooding, parked their cars on their higher lawns instead of in driveways.
The flooding stopped one man from walking his dog, forcing him to turn around.
Raw wind gusts of up to 36 mph made it difficult to breathe and move.
