CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. (AP) -- A man who calls himself "Long Island's Favorite Magician'' was charged Wednesday with secretly videotaping a mother and her two young daughters as they undressed.
Robert Infantino was arraigned Thursday on three counts of unlawful surveillance, and ordered held on $180,000 cash bail. First District Court Judge Gerard Asher also issued a temporary order of protection for the woman and her children.
According to police, the mother and her 10- and 14-year-old daughters went to Infantino's home-office on Wednesday for a photo shoot and had gone to change outfits when they noticed a camera hidden in a box in the dressing room.
Newsday reported that prosecutors revealed in court Thursday that a computer seized by investigators from Infantino's house contained child pornography.
Infantino was represented by a Legal Aid attorney; a spokeswoman said she did not know the lawyer's name. A message left at Infantino's home was not returned.
He was scheduled to return to court on Aug. 26.
Infantino's Web site claims that he has been a magician, juggler, performer and photographer for more than 20 years.
