L.I. Town Cell Phone Mgr. Rings Up 10K Phone Bill

ISLIP, N.Y. (AP)  -- An official in charge of managing a Long Island town's cell phone accounts rang up thousands of dollars worth of personal calls on his own town cell phone.

Newsday reports in Tuesday editions that Town of Islip cell phone manager Robert L. Komorski resigned after investigators discovered he had racked up $10,000 worh of personal calls.

Komorski confirmed that he had resigned. He said of the cell phone use: ``I guess I could have been more vigilant.''

Komorski agreed to pay $10,000 in restitution for ``an on-going pattern of misuse and abuse'' of his town cell phone. He said Monday that he had already paid it back.

The West Islip resident worked for the town for 17 years, including 10 years overseeing cell phones.
