Long Island Woman Gets 1-to-3 Years in Death of Boyfriend

NEW YORK (AP)  -- A Long Island woman who admitted dragging her boyfriend to his death when he tried to stop her from driving drunk has been sentenced to one-to-three years in prison.

Jesenia Vega apologized at her sentencing Wednesday in state Supreme Court in Riverhead. She said she still loves the victim, 26-year-old Louis Wiederer.

Vega pleaded guilty in March to second-degree manslaughter, vehicular manslaughter and DWI.

Prosecutors say Vega consumed beer and alcohol at a July 2007 party. When Wiederer climbed on the running board of her car, she drove off. He slipped under the wheels and was dragged 600 feet to his death.
