NEW YORK (AP/1010 WINS) -- Two westbound Long Island Rail Road trains "bumped'' as they were leaving a Queens station Wednesday causing at least two people to suffer minor injuries, according to an LIRR spokeswoman. The LIRR is now running operating on schedule following major delays due to the collision.
An preliminary investigation found that signal problems may have cause the trains to bump.

A Port Jefferson train bumped a Babylon train as they were exiting the Jamaica station at about 7:30 a.m. heading toward New York, LIRR spokeswoman Susan McGowan said.
There are two reports of minor injuries as a result of the accident, she said. About 1,000 commuters were riding on both trains at the time of the "bump," she said.
Passengers on both trains were evacuated.
"The trains were traveling at a very low rate of speed," McGowan said. "However trains shouldn't bump...we are investigating this," she added.
According to a statement on the MTA's Web site: "The LIRR is now operating on or close to schedule. Earlier there were delays due to an ongoing investigation involving two trains bumping into each other as they were departing Jamaica Station."
