PATCHOGUE, N.Y. (AP) -- A Long Island man has been arrested for driving while intoxicated with his 4-year-old son in the car.
A Suffolk County police sergeant was on patrol in Patchogue early Sunday when he saw a 2000 Ford swerve out of its lane and almost hit another car.
He stopped the driver, and saw that the man's 4-year-old son was also in the car.
The 32-year-old man was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated and endangering the welfare of a child.
The boy was released to his mother, and a referral to Child Protective Services was made.
