Man Shot Outside Greenwich Village Restaurant

NEW YORK (AP)  -- Police say a man was shot and critically injured outside an all-night diner in Greenwich Village.

Juliet Papa reports.

The gunfire erupted outside the Cozy Soup 'n' Burger on Broadway near Astor Place just after 5:30 a.m. Police say the dispute began inside the diner and the shooting occured outside on the street.

The victim, a man, was shot in the neck and is said to be in critical condition at Bellevue Hospital. Apparently, the victim ran from the scene of the shooting leaving a trail of blood all the way to 4th Avenue.

Last June, a 27-year-old was grazed in the ankle when shots were fired outside the restaurant.

The popular diner near New York University has a wall lined with photographs, some autographed, of celebrities such as Sylvester Stallone, Barbara Eden and Calif. Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger and Adam Sandler. It was featured in Sandler's movie ``Big Daddy.''
