Meals on Wheels Worker Shot to Death in Brooklyn

NEW YORK (1010 WINS/AP)  -- A man who was delivering free meals to the elderly for a charity group has been shot and killed in the lobby of a Brooklyn apartment building, police said.

Al Jones Reports

Imonil Aminov, a part-time worker for the Jewish Association for Services of the Aged which delivers food to Brownsville and East New York through the City Meals-on-Wheels program, was shot in the chest at about 10 a.m. Monday by a man in a black, hooded sweatshirt who fled on foot.

He was making a delivery to an apartment at 341 Dumont Ave. in the Brownsville Houses when he was killed.

So far no arrests have been made.

Investigators are looking into whether Aminov was killed after walking in on a dispute between two men. Police are also looking into robbery as a possible motive, although officials said nothing appears to have been stolen from Aminov's pockets.

The Meals On Wheels Association of America is the oldest and largest organization in the United States representing those who provide meal services to people in need.
