Mom, 6 Kids Struck While Crossing Upstate Street

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. (AP)  -- Two children are in critical condition after they and four of their siblings and their mother were struck by a pickup truck while crossing an upstate street.

Schenectady police say the pickup plowed into the family around 6 p.m. Wednesday.

According to a police spokesman Thursday morning, two of the children are in critical condition at Albany Medical Center, while the four other kids were taken to Ellis Hospital in Schenectady with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police say the mother also suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was with the two children at the Albany hospital.

The names and ages of the mother and children haven't been released, but the youngest child was reported to be 2.

Police say the pickup's driver was questioned but hasn't been charged.
