NEW YORK (AP) -- Private security guards are holding a rally in midtown Manhattan to demand higher pay and higher standards in the industry.
The rally Thursday is being organized by Local 32BJ of the Service Employees International Union.
The union represents 4,000 private security guards in New York City, and their contract is being negotiated now. The union is asking for higher wages, better health insurance and enhanced training.
A spokesman for the Realty Advisory Board, which represents business owners, was not immediately available for comment.
