Police said 22-year-old Robert Davis was hospitalized Friday in stable condition after being shot once in the stomach Thursday evening.
Police say he was carrying an unloaded handgun when he tried to rob a 16-year-old Thursday. Two officers chased Davis and cornered him.
Police say a 31-year-old officer fired twice at Davis after the suspect turned toward the officers with the gun and ignored orders to drop it.
There's no number listed at his address, and it's unclear whether he has a lawyer. Police say he will be arrested once his medical condition permits.
Investigators initially sought a second suspect but now believe only Davis was involved.
