TRENTON, N.J. (AP)  -- A contingent of New Jersey rescue workers is on its way to the Gulf Coast as Hurricane Gustav makes landfall.

Nicholas Morici of the New Jersey Office of Emergency Management says a team of about 35 state, county and municipal workers is driving to Louisiana with 10 vehicles and two boats. Morici says the team includes experts in water rescue.

They are expected to arrive in Baton Rogue sometime Monday night.

Acting Governor Richard Codey signed an executive order Sunday mobilizing the group.

Morici says his agency is coordinating all emergency response teams from New Jersey to the hurricane-affected areas.

He discourages people -- even rescue workers -- from traveling to the region on their own.
