NJ Turnpike Rest Area Closed Indefinitely

RIDGEFIELD, N.J. (AP/ 1010 WINS)  -- A water main break has forced officials to temporarily shut down a New Jersey Turnpike rest areas in northern New Jersey.

The break occurred Friday at the Vince Lombardi rest stop in Ridgefield, which is located between Exits 18E and 18W and the George Washington Bridge. The site was expected to be closed until at least 11 p.m., turnpike spokesman Joe Orlando said.

It was not immediately clear what caused the break, and most of the pipe needed to be replaced, Orlando said.

Orlando recommended that drivers traveling northbound on the turnpike use the Grover Cleveland rest area in Woodbridge if they needed fuel or food.
