Two Window Washers Rescued in Times Square

NEW YORK (1010 WINS/AP)  -- It was a close call for two window washers in Times Square Tuesday.

At around 8:34 a.m., police received a 911 call that two window washers were in distress at 7th Avenue West 42nd & West 43rd Streets.

When police arrived at the scene they discovered two building maintenance window washers whose basket scaffolding was stuck on the outside of the 30th floor on the southeast corner of the building.

Police emergency services units were able to remove an adjacent window and bring the two workers inside unharmed.

The street below, Seventh Avenue between 42nd and 43rd streets, was briefly closed during the maneuver.
