NY Bus Driver Charged With Endangering Welfare of a Child

GREENVILLE, N.Y. (AP)  -- State police say a Hudson Valley school bus driver allowed a 10-year-old girl to change seats on the bus in exchange for a hug.

George White of Greenville is charged with endangering the welfare of a child. Police say the 65-year-old also made suggestive comments to the student when she gave him a hug Monday. White reportedly gave the girl money, candy and his phone number on previous occasions.

Police investigated after school officials reported the incident.

White has been suspended with pay by the Greenville School District in Greene County.

There was no answer at White's residence Friday.
