Marty Tankleff Is Free at Last

NEW YORK (1010 WINS)  -- Martin Tankleff is officially a free man.

A State Supreme Court justice officially dismissed murder indictments against Tankleff three weeks after state Attorney General Andrew Cuomo asked that the charges be dropped.

Mona Rivera Reports

Martin Tankleff, 36, was convicted in 1990 for the murders of his parents, but defense attorneys have long contended that his disputed confession given to detectives on the day of the killings was coerced, and argued that a family business associate was the real culprit.

Tankleff served 17 years in prison for the murders of his parents.

And while Tankleff is happy he's legally a free man, he said he wants the real killers prosecuted.

"While the case is over against me, the case isn't over, Tankleff told 1010 WINS' Mona Rivera.
