Lucky Ducklings Saved after Falling Down Drain

NEW YORK (1010 WINS)  -- You could call them a few lucky ducklings, thanks to the Brookhaven Animal Shelter.

Six baby ducks were rescued Wednesday after falling down a drain on Montauk Highway in Blue Point.

1010 WINS AUDIO: Mona Rivera Reports

Animal Control Officer Richard Parrinello received a call that the ducklings were trapped and with the help of Suffolk County Highway workers saved the little ducks.

The ducks were apparently following their mother down Montauk Highway when one-by-one they fell through the drain grate.

Parrinello said the ducks could've died if there was a rain storm since the drain was a closed well.

The ducks were taken to an animal rescue group where they are said to be in good condition.
