Long Island Teenager Arrested for Illegal Body Piercing

WEST ISLIP, N.Y. (AP) -- A Long Island man was arrested Wednesday for performing illegal body piercings on underage girls in his home, Suffolk County Police said.

Nicholas Cunningham, 18, of West Islip, has been charged with two counts of endangering the welfare of a child and two counts of "prohibited piercing,''police said.

Cunningham was issued a desk appearance ticket and is scheduled to be arraigned May 29 at First District Court in Central Islip.

Police say he was charging $25 to pierce belly buttons, and the conditions were unsanitary.

Police are asking the public to notify them about any other potential cases. Anyone with information is urged to call the Third Precinct Crime Section at 631-854-8326.
