Police: Mount Vernon Mom Slammed 6-Month-Old Son Into Sidewalk

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Police in Mount Vernon say an emotionally disturbed naked woman slammed her 6-month-old son repeatedly into the sidewalk Friday afternoon.

Kathleen Maloney reports

The incident occurred around 1 p.m. on East Lincoln Avenue across the street from an elementary school.

The child was initially taken to Mount Vernon Hospital. Police say he has been transfered to Westchester Medical Center where he is listed in critical condition. Police say the 23-year-old mother is in custody and undergoing psychiatric evaluation.

Police say the boy was foaming at the mouth when they arrived at the scene.
