Cops: Teen Drowns in Fairfield, Conn. Lake
|
FAIRFIELD, Conn. (AP) -- A 17-year-old Bridgeport boy died early Tuesday when he apparently drowned in a Fairfield lake, police said.
Officers were called to Lake Hills, a private beach at Samp Mortar Lake, at 1:30 a.m. Tuesday on a report of a missing swimmer. An assistant fire chief said the teen was swimming with four friends when he disappeared while trying to reach a diving platform in the lake.
He was found in the water about 45 minutes later and taken to St. Vincent's Hospital in Bridgeport, where he was pronounced dead.
His name was not immediately released. The investigation remained open later Tuesday.
