Police Continue Searching for Missing N.J. Hunter

TRENTON, N.J. (AP)  -- Authorities are searching for a man missing since Saturday when the boat he and three others took duck hunting capsized in bad weather in Paulsboro's Mantua Creek.

New Jersey State Police spokesman Sgt. Stephen Jones says jet boats, aircraft, scent-tracking dogs and sonar devices are all being used in the search for 23-year-old Christopher Pettit of Gibbstown in Gloucester County.

Jones says Pettit had gone hunting with his friend Carl Merril, 24, of Paulsboro, on a boat belonging to an unidentified 41-year-old Turnersville man and the man's 12-year-old son, who they had befriended in an online duck hunting forum.

Jones says Pettit went missing the moment the boat capsized, while the three others swam to a small island and were rescued by a passing boater.
