Police Investigate Alleged Hazing Incident at L.I. School

FARMINGDALE, N.Y. (1010 WINS)  -- Nassau County police are investigating an alleged hazing incident at Farmingdale High School involving two football players.

Mona Rivera reports

Attorneys say the alleged attack happened last Thursday in the team locker room when the captain of the football team tried to sexually abuse a younger teammate with a broomstick.

The alleged victim grabbed the broomstick and snapped it in half, attorneys said.

Nassau County Police spoke with the victim and his parents after the incident.  Police determined that the victim, and other players, had been poked in the left buttocks with the broomstick and told the family of the victim that the incident did not constitute a crime.

The school district confirmed in a statement some sort of interaction had occurred between a junior and senior in the locker room but said no one was injured and disciplinary action had been taken.

Attorneys say the alleged victim returned to school on Monday but has not rejoined the team.
