Dr. Brian McDonough on Reducing Stress During Pregnancy

NEW YORK (1010 WINS)  -- Pregnancy is a crucial period in any woman’s life. The most obvious issue is doing all you can to have a healthy baby, which includes eating right. Not consuming alcohol and avoiding cigarettes are al crucial steps.

But one area, a critical area, is often ignored or minimized. It’s important for a woman to feel good about herself. Reducing stress and having a positive self-image can be critical.

The American Pregnancy Association recommends that every woman take some time to learn what exactly is happening to your body and how your body is supporting your growing baby.

Here are some basic points…a pregnant woman burns extra calories, to feed the baby which explains feelings of hunger.

Mood swings are often the result of shifting hormones and needs to be taken into account. Build support groups. Family, friends and other new mothers can help.
